HP PCs - Mouse Features and Settings (Windows 10, viii)

This document applies to HP and Compaq computers with Windows 10 or 8.

This certificate explains how to use mouse features, and how to alter or adjust mouse settings in Windows ten or 8.

Using your mouse

The mouse is a hand-held or touchpad device used to work within the Windows environs. The post-obit list describes basic mouse functions:

  • Signal to and select objects on the screen.

  • Select and/or movement data or files by dragging and dropping.

  • Kickoff software applications and shortcuts, or open up files.

  • Scroll app windows or web pages by clicking and holding a coil bar, or by moving the mouse wheel (the third push wheel on some mouse models).

Changing the look of your mouse arrow

To modify the mouse arrow (cursor) epitome:

  1. In Windows, search for and open Change how the mouse pointer looks.

  2. In the Mouse Properties window, click the Pointers tab.

    • To choose a new pointer image: In the Customize box, click the pointer role (such as Normal Select), and click Browse. Select a pointer pick from the list.

Changing mouse pointer speed

Utilise these steps to change the mouse arrow speed:

  1. In Windows, search for and open up Change the mouse arrow display or speed.

  2. In the Mouse Properties window, click the Pointer Options tab.

  3. In the Motion field, click and hold the slider while moving the mouse to the right or left, to adjust the mouse speed.

  4. Click OK to save your changes.

Adjusting mouse for correct-hand or left-mitt use

Use the following steps to adapt the mouse for right-mitt or left-hand use:

  1. In Windows, search for and open up Alter your mouse settings.

  2. Click the arrow in the Select your primary push button box, then select Left if yous desire to employ the left push for primary functions such as selecting and dragging, or select Right if you want to use the correct button for primary functions.

Adjusting double-click speed

  1. In Windows, search for and open up Change the mouse pointer display or speed.

  2. In the Mouse Properties window, click the Buttons tab.

  3. In the Double Click Speed section, click and hold the slider while moving the mouse to the right or left, to adjust the double-click speed.

  4. Test the adjusted speed past double-clicking the folder to the correct of the slide bar.

Specifying a single-click or a double-click to open folders

Utilize the following steps to alter how mouse clicks are used to open up your folders and files:

  1. In Windows, search for and open File Explorer Options.

  2. In the File Explorer Options window, click the General tab.

  3. In the Click items equally follows area, click i of the following options:

    • Single-click to open an item (point to select)

    • Double-click to open an item (single-click to select)
